We build on common success principles and permanently are willing to listen and contribute to their well-being and ensure that the rights and needs of landowners and local communities are assessed and addressed prior to any activity or acquisition.

Cacique is willing to share its knowhow and enhance development in the communities meeting reasonable expectations focusing principally on agricultural and small scale mining activities. The local communities are favored by new employment, participation in the supply chain and the timely and fair payment of obligations.

Our principals for human rights follow and practice the principles contained in the Political Constitution, the treaties ratified by Colombia and the international instruments on human rights and international humanitarian law adopted by the United Nations and the Organization of American States.

The company recognizes the autonomy of minorities as a collective right which emanates from principles of the 1991 Constitution of Colombia, as set out in Articles 1, 2 and 7. We also follow the international human rights law of the ILO Convention 169, ratified by the Colombian State and approved by Law 21 of 1991, which protects the rights of ethnic groups including measures to promote the full realization of social, economic and social rights; respect for their social and cultural identity, their customs, traditions and institutions.

Cacique is open to work with local and national authorities, the academic community in order to share ideas and plans to create shared value resolving any disagreement in good faith.

 

Protecting the natural resources and biodiversity

​

Good environmental practices lead us to avoid and minimize impacts, if necessary remediate and compensate them in order to protect the natural resources. The operations comply with the environmental laws and our own standards. From the beginning of our projects we plan for a progressive closure of operations monitoring permanently the progress of the measures assuring in the long term environmental stability and valuable land uses.

We seek to maintain the health of the ecosistem in order to assure there is no loss in biodiversity. We also promote best practices working together with the government and the communities.

​

In our mineral process we do not use mercury to mine or extract gold. The method used is cyanidation having special care to minimize the exposure of workers and neutralize any residue before it is disposed. Special care is given to mine residues in order to prevent any harm to the environment and human health.

​

Natural resources needed as water and soil are used in the most efficient way in order minimize competition on supply. Water is dealt with as a precious resource and we seek to leave a culture of conservation balancing its use in agricultural and social uses; land will be reclaimed in order to provide a future of productive use.

The policy of Cacique is  to prioritize health following the "Pland de Gestión en Salud y en el Trabajo" in English Occupational Health and Safety Management System . It is part of the system of total management that facilitates the administration of health and safety risks associated with the business of the organization. Includes  the orientation of the organizational structure, planning of activities, responsibilities, practices, procedures, processes and resources to  implement and maintain the occupational health and safety policy and objectives.

We are committed to high standards to minimize health risks employing principles of anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control to manage a variety of occupational health hazards, such as exposure to dust and fumes, chemicals, noise, vibration and ergonomics.  

​

The company provides the time and the means for all personnel entering linked or temporary, to receive training on risk factors and safety standards related to the job to be performed.. Different areas work in an interdisciplinary way to control the risk factors from their origin. Each worker is provided with the required personal protection elements according to the risk factors to which it will be exposed, demanding its use during the development of the work but also by providing the means to create this staff self-care awareness. Include in management meetings and other working groups, analysis and decision-making on health and safety performance of the company.

Guaranteeing business integrity and securing value

​

The policy requires that all personnel involved with the business work honestly and in the best interests of the Company avoiding any type of corruption. It also requires those involved in reporting information whether in explaining a problem or in reporting results. We report results accurately. We take appropriate measures to protect and prevent the improper disclosure or use of material or confidential information about Cacique. We state that it is important to avoid conflict of interest like hiring family members and close relationship with suppliers.

In our interactions with our business partners and government officials and agencies we do not give bribes, and we only use appropriate and lawful means when engaging. We keep accurate books and records of all of our transactions. All those engaged in activities on behalf of Cacique are responsible for maintaining truthful and accurate records.

Caciques' policy protecting assets ensures appropriate use of its funds and assets, while managing and mitigating risk. The company is committed to efficiently use funds and assets, and control costs by improving operational efficiencies.
